Project Description

This federally funded project, completed under budget, is considered one of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) most successful and is published on their website under the Special Experimental Project Number 14 (Sep-14) designation. Facilities for accommodating a proposed ferry service to Canada and berthing for cruise ships frequenting the Great Lakes Waterways were designed, permitted and constructed. The project included an off-shore wharf, seawall repair, site work, including extension of Detroit’s RiverWalk, and a new Terminal Building. The Terminal Building required international processing, security screening, baggage screening and pick-up, and security support areas. SDG Associates was Architect for the Customs and Border Patrol portion of the project.
